Established in February 1937, the Secretary Volunteer Fire Company, Inc. (SVFD) stands as a steadfast guardian, dedicated to safeguarding the lives and properties of the 2500 individuals residing within our 20-square-mile jurisdiction. Our sole station serves as the nucleus of our operations, strategically positioned to serve a predominantly residential community. Embracing our role as a public department, SVFD operates on the unwavering commitment of our volunteer members.

With a proud legacy spanning over eight decades, SVFD remains deeply rooted in the community as an all-encompassing emergency response entity. Comprising 70 dedicated individuals across Active, Honorary, Life, and Ladies Auxiliary memberships, our team embodies the spirit of selflessness and service.

Our mission transcends mere response; it embodies a commitment to excellence in emergency service provision, comprehensive fire prevention education, and heightened awareness of emergency services within Secretary, Maryland, and its neighboring environs.
