| On Sunday, December 28, at approximately 10:04 p.m., Secretary Volunteer Fire Company was alerted, along with Dorchester County Stations 21 and 26, to assist Hurlock Station 6 with a structure fire in the 6300 block of Jones Village Road. Station 6 quickly brought the fire under control and canceled incoming units. On Monday, December 29, at approximately 4:15 a.m., just two hours after the scene was cleared, a second box alarm was issued for the same house. This time, the structure was heavily involved in fire with possible exposure concerns. Command 6 immediately requested a working fire task force, adding additional units from Caroline and Dorchester counties. Rescue Engine 16-1 was responsible for connecting to the hydrant to supply continuous water to the scene by picking up Station 21’s hose line. After completing this assignment, crew members joined operations at the fire scene. Both fires have been ruled arson with the confirmed use of incendiary materials. The Office of the State Fire Marshal is actively investigating both incidents and requests assistance from the public. Anyone with information that may help identify the individual or individuals responsible is urged to contact the Office of the State Fire Marshal at 410-713-3780. Callers may remain anonymous.
